About:

We are a 501-(c) (5) non-profit organization and are dedicated to hosting a fun and ethical annual show for all Gypsy Horse and Gypsy Vanner Horse owners and enthusiasts. We are equally dedicated to promoting the Gypsy Horse and Gypsy Vanner Horse breed and strongly support functions and events with this intent. We also support the work of certified groups who use Gypsy Horses for therapeutic purposes for people with disabilities. We welcome all Gypsy Horse and Gypsy Vanner Horse enthusiasts of any State and Canada to participate in our annual show, and are open to full bred Gypsy Horses registered with any of the four United States Gypsy Horse registries and cross-bred Gypsy horses registered with the GHA and GHRA (50% Gypsy).

Mission Statement:

The California Gypsy Horse Club's purpose is to support Gypsy Horse owners, breeders, and enthusiasts wanting to network, promote the breed, show, and enjoy their Gypsy Horses in our Golden State of California.

what do we do?

Host Annual Gypsy Horse Shows: The CGHC hosts regional 3-4 day California State Gypsy Horse Shows and educational events to support its members. These events are organized by the CGHC board and co-hosted by other equine breed groups. The CGHC also supports "Affiliate Shows" that follow CGHC guidelines and rules and the show points are counted for our Year End Awards Program. These events are held annually in California.

Support functions, shows, and events which promote the Gypsy Horse Breed : Several times a year the CGHC may attend outside organized equine expositions, shows, educational events, parades etc. CGHC members/Gypsy horse owners are invited to attend and participate in these functions as a means to introduce and educate the general public about the Gypsy Horse breed and it’s uses. CGHC members may also organize these events and publicize the dates and information through the CGHC. The CGHC will help financially support events when funds are available. The CGHC may sponsor Gypsy breed shows or horse shows that host Gypsy classes. These shows must be pre-approved by the CGHC and show organizers must either use the CGHC show rules or shows rules that have been approved by the CGHC. These shows and events may be held throughout California and surrounding States.

Educational Clinics: The CGHC will attend and/or host educational events designed to help its members learn better ways to work with, train, and communicate with their Gypsy Horses in an ethical and safe manner. Professional’s will be asked to participate and teach these events. The CGHC will financially support this type of event as time and funds are available. These events may be held throughout California and surrounding States.

Support of Gypsy Horse Community Outreach Events
We support organized Gypsy Horse Community Out reach events such as "Share Your Gypsy Day"
and visits to children centers, hospice programs, local feed stores, and various community events. These functions are attended as a means to introduce and educate the general public about the Gypsy Horse breed and give back to the community by providing enrichment to those who are restricted to hospitals or home care because of special needs.

Support of certified organizations who use Gypsy Horses for therapeutic purposes for people with disabilities: When needed or asked, the CGHC may attend and/or support these functions hosted by therapeutic riding groups, dis-mounted therapy groups, etc. Gypsy horses have a very special demeanor that fits the needs of these groups perfectly. Certified members may use their Gypsy horses for this purpose and the CGHC will help financially support these events when funds are available. These events may be held throughout California and surrounding States.
